What to Expect From Your First Kickboxing Fundamentals Class

Our Kickboxing Fundamentals class is where you will learn the foundation of our striking program. You will learn the basics of kickboxing and Muay Thai that you will continue to practice for years to come. Our Fundamentals class is open to all levels. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never thrown a punch in your life or if you’ve had competition experience, our fundamentals class is a great way for you to hone in on the basics.

Here’s what to expect:

A SAFE AND INVITING ENVIRONMENT

Expect a warm welcome from the coach who will be there to lead the class for the day’s training session. Your classmates will consist of other beginners as well as experienced martial artists. It’s a beneficial to work with partners of all skill levels — for beginners, an experienced partner can move a little more slowly for you — and for experienced individuals, working with someone less experienced can allow you to brush up on your basics. Either way, we’re all here to help each other get better.

CLASS STRUCTURE

Before Class: Come 10-15 mins early to suit up with hand wraps, gloves and shinguards. We have two changing rooms by the entrance.

Warmup: We begin every class with a warmup to wake up our bodies by increasing blood flow and mobility.

Skills: After the warmups, the instructor will demonstrate and teach the day’s drills with an emphasis on proper form and technique. In all our classes, you will likely work with partner(s).

Conditioning: Towards the end of the class, the class as a group will end the session with exercises to strengthen our core, legs and arms.

EXPECT TO FEEL GOOD

When the class is over, you will have pushed yourself both mentally and physically, and you should be proud! And while kickboxing is a lifelong journey, and you will have your good days and your bad days during training, you will improve in time and you will have done something good for yourself that you might not have if you didn’t attend class.

Our students come from all shapes, sizes, age and backgrounds and each of us have our own reason as to why we train kickboxing. Regardless of if you’re here to break a sweat/relieve stress or if you’re here to compete one day, our classes here will move you forward in your fitness or competitive journey.

In time, your instructor will give you the green light to begin taking our Intermediate/Advanced classes, but you are still more than welcome to continue in the Fundamentals Class.
